Intensely private and incredibly skinny, she is India’s answer to Gwyneth Paltrow. With her graceful reserve and aloof elegance, she has been able to niftily negotiable the media’s niggling interest in her now-on, now-off marriage. Karishma, one of the leading star in Bollywood who showed a surprising performance in Fiza (2000) is on television now, as a celebrity guest on Nach Baliye 4, and is an unfailing presence at all film awards nights, where she cheers on her sister, Kareena, even as she herself sits, chandelier earrings and silkily saree-clad, in the sidelines. She was at her best in the ‘Raja Hindustani’ (1996) for which she won the Filmfare Award and also won the National award for best supporting actress in the film ‘Dil to Paagal Hai’ (1997).
