Jitish Kallat, an admirable, diplomatic and most dedicated artist generally screws everyone’s attention towards his masterpiece at the art gallery. Soon after he graduated from Mumbai’s Sir JJ School of Art, he had a swift and sustained trek to the top. He invented a distinct idiom: autobiographical, with self-images appearing in a narrative. With exhibitions in England, US, Korea and Germany, and a clientele that includes connosseurs and young are enthusiasts, he engages his audiences with wry humour. With his wife, fellow artist Reena, his senior (by a year) at JJ, he’s often on Mumbai’s celebrity circuit, proving that painters also can party!
