She is basically a model from London and was scheduled with modeling assignments, despite she stepped into Indian film industry with her naive yet expressive face, chic figure and awesome looks. Her rise to the top is astounding. Is it luck–or is this what having a superstar boyfriend can do! whatever, Katrina continues to silence her critics with her box-office success. A leading daily carried a report recently declaring she had crossed the Rs 3.5 crore mark. After a series of vacuous commercial capers she will be seen in a ’serious’ film, Prakash Jha’s Rajneeti, which she hopes will redefine her rather limited screen image. As for Salman, the lady lapses into silence at the sound of his name. Coy! Or just a savvy ploy!

Intensely private and incredibly skinny, she is India’s answer to Gwyneth Paltrow. With her graceful reserve and aloof elegance, she has been able to niftily negotiable the media’s niggling interest in her now-on, now-off marriage. Karishma, one of the leading star in Bollywood who showed a surprising performance in Fiza (2000) is on television now, as a celebrity guest on Nach Baliye 4, and is an unfailing presence at all film awards nights, where she cheers on her sister, Kareena, even as she herself sits, chandelier earrings and silkily saree-clad, in the sidelines. She was at her best in the ‘Raja Hindustani’ (1996) for which she won the Filmfare Award and also won the National award for best supporting actress in the film ‘Dil to Paagal Hai’ (1997).

There is none who does not love KJo and there is nothing he will not put his wit and energy to. From the intense, lyrical film director with his unique genre of Love and Longing in London flicks, he has become a fashion model, talk show host, filmi dost and the ubiquitous MC at Bollywood Awards Nites. His new movie’s called My Name is Khan; now that sounds unusually dangerous, he has actually dropped his ‘kustomary K’ nomenclature for the name! Although he has retained his mascot SRK–some things shouldn’t change. Johar’s exclusive anchoring in ‘coffee with Karan’ was his benchmark and the way of delivering thoughts, tackling conversations are exceptional!

Jitish Kallat, an admirable, diplomatic and most dedicated artist generally screws everyone’s attention towards his masterpiece at the art gallery. Soon after he graduated from Mumbai’s Sir JJ School of Art, he had a swift and sustained trek to the top. He invented a distinct idiom: autobiographical, with self-images appearing in a narrative. With exhibitions in England, US, Korea and Germany, and a clientele that includes connosseurs and young are enthusiasts, he engages his audiences with wry humour. With his wife, fellow artist Reena, his senior (by a year) at JJ, he’s often on Mumbai’s celebrity circuit, proving that painters also can party!
